This very fine 1946 Tatra T87 brought quite a sensation about in the car industry at the time as the design was far ahead of its time. It has a rear-mounted air-cooled V8 engine with a magnesium crankcase and DOHC. This car is very fast thanks to its pronounced aerodynamic properties. This car was originally found in the Czech Republic.
The last owner bought the car in Germany in 2008 from a collector that has inherited a long time ago from his Czech uncle. The last owner commissioned a complete restoration and mechanical rebuild of the car by the world-renowned Mr Kandus proprietor of ‘Ecorra en absolute dé Tatra’. The whole project took nearly eight years to complete.
The resultant bodywork is splendid with straight and perfect fitted body panels. It also features a rare steel sunroof. There have been some modern upgrades fitted to the car such as the contemporary lubrication leak-free wheel bearings, electric fuel pump and individual twin braking systems. This Tatra comes with a Tatra museum certificate. A fantastic, rare car with an intriguing provenance!
