The Italian Pietro Frua designed this particularly gorgeous 1967 Glas 1700 GT Coupé. The Piermont based, Italian Mocalieri firm, built the bodywork, it was then transported to the Glas factory in Dingolfing for completion of the assembly. From 1967 on, the last year of existence for Glas, when BMW bought Glas out, the grille, badges, rear axle and engine block were changed.
Only 1,680 1700 GT’s were produced. This one was a Californian sourced car that from the mid-90’s has been in Holland. A few years later the Glas was completely body-off restored and mechanically overhauled in Holland. No effort or expense was spared to bring this car in a truly top quality condition.
From engine block, stub axles, suspension, shock breakers to a whole brakes revision, literally every little nut and bolt was taken apart and carefully restored to its rightful position. A very extensive photo reportage of the restoration present. The wonderful bodywork is straight with perfect fitting body panels. The chrome details and interior leather trim are as good as new.
It has the original ‘Canariegelb’ finish. As special feature this Glas has a custom-made stainless steel exhaust. This superb 1700 GT with more than 100 Hp is a very fast and desirable car!
