Vintage and Prestige are proud to offer this 1928 Hillman 14hp Safety Saloon For Sale. Registration: ER 9209 Chassis no: E 5553. Had it not been for Hillman's 14 model, it is doubtful if the company would have survived long enough to be taken over by Humber in 1928.
It evolved from the 1327cc 9 model that had established Hillman as a recognised motor manufacturer, and featured: a 1953cc four-cylinder engine with detachable cylinder head, conventional four-speed non-synchromesh gearbox with righthand change, four-wheel cable operated brakes, and suspension by semi-elliptic springs all-round.
The cost new in 1926, complete with Saloon body, would have been circa £345. Approximately 11,000 examples of the 14 were produced between 1925 and 1930. This delightful four-door Safety Saloon has benefitted from recent mechanical works, which has resulted in returning the Hillman to it’s former glory and once again allowing the engine to run like clockwork.
The exterior is finished in a beautiful shade of red which of a high standard throughout, to the rear are a pair of ‘Divers Helmet’ rear lamps, a mounted spare wheel and a fold away luggage rack. Fitment of various car club badges benefits the front view, with an Automobile Association badge positioned at the centre of the radiator.
The interior is beautifully styled in a deep shade of quilted tan leather, with nickel finishings and oatmeal carpet to the lower sections.
